As our daily lives unfold, nothing that happens is a surprise to God. He never promises us a trouble-free life, but he does promise us His presence and strength. When we are faced with challenging circumstances or everyday life; are we using our faith? Faith is released by praying, saying, and doing whatever God asks us to do. Are we praying that God would strengthen us during our waiting periods? And are we talking as if we truly believe God is working in our favor. Or what about doing whatever we believe God is asking us to do. We must do all of this while placing our trust in Him! Remember…we are uniquely created by God for a special purpose!! Are you tapping in to your purpose?
Fear not, for I am with you. Isaiah 41:10
As we sit back and try to answer the above question, of course we automatically say God. But when we reflect on Matthew 6:33 are we really seeking God 1st in every situation and circumstance? Odds are probably not. So how can we change this? Glad you asked. Here are some ways that we as seekers can start seeking His kingdom first…
– Acknowledge Him in all of our ways
– Be thankful for what you have without looking at what you don’t have
– Believe you can do anything that God calls you to do
– Be secure in who God has called you to be
– Challenges will come, but we can stay in peace knowing God has our back
– Separate from those who live contrary to God’s ways
– When faced with temptation, avoid areas of weakness…stay away and out of those situations
If we would seek His kingdom first everything else will fall into place. He knows exactly what it is we need and when we need it. Each and every day we must wake up and desire to follow after God. What does it mean to follow God? It means to obey God, to follow His lead, and to do what He says. Don’t be impatient, wait on God!! God has to work in us before he can work through us. Strive to seek God 1st each and every day. Enjoy the journey!!
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6: 33
In discussing expectations, we must first distinguish whom we are placing our expectations on. Is it people or God? When we have too much hope in people, a lot of the time we will be disappointed. People don’t always meet our needs or appreciate us like they should. You see humans are not fool proof, in other words they will make mistakes. In order to keep our joy and hope, we must place our expectations in God. For a lot of us, we need to start going to God and tell Him what we need and quit trying to get it from people. God wants to have a relationship with each of us; he wants to hear our wants and needs. With that said, we must be patient and know that our timing is not Gods timing. Be content in God and pray BOLD prayers. So are your expectations realistic?
* But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40: 31
As you walk with God you will be faced with difficult situations and circumstances. It is within those times you have to put faith in God and trust Him. You can’t just have little bit of faith or trust Him once in a while when your life is going good. That is when it is the easiest. There is no such thing as trusting God without unanswered questions. There will always be situations and circumstances you just don’t understand. It is during those times when you must rely on your faith…and trust!
* Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:8
